ICM manufactured
its 200th Dryer as 100 MGY plants became the norm.
In early
2007, there were 115 ethanol plants operating throughout the
U.S. According to the Renewable Fuel Association (RFA), plants
under construction or in the near-final planning stages were
expected to double that number in the next two years. Along
with this growth, average plant sizes increased from the 30
and 40 MGY biorefineries of the early 2000s to 50 and 100 MGY
capacities, taking advantage of economies of scale as well
as the phenomenal returns plants had been realizing.
