One of an ethanol's plants challenges was finding affordable insurance. Insurers had no experience with the industry and rates were high, so ICM stepped in with a two-part solution: make sure the plants' safety procedures are second to none and create a self-insurance pool, returning a portion of premiums in recognition of low claims.
