ICM - Ethanol - The Fuel of the Future Back Next
1896

Henry Ford's first automobile, the quadricycle, was powered by 100% ethanol.

More than a century after Henry Ford relied on biofuels to power his first vehicle, his multi-billion-dollar company still supports ethanol. According to the Ford website, along with manufacturing more than 1.6 million flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs) from 1995 to 2007, Ford Motor Company is working with VeraSun Energy, the nation's second largest ethanol producer, to develop a "Midwest Ethanol Corridor" that will expand the availability of E85 to allow FFV owners to travel the entire states' lengths on E85.
